Collect Memories with the Lexington Scavenger Hunt

Lexington families have been trekking all over town to complete the town-wide Scavenger Hunt that began in July. Clues were released on Lexington’s 300th Anniversary website weekly starting in July. Now that all ten clues are all posted, Lexingtonians are encouraged to get hunting!

Stations will remain open until September 21st, giving families who may have traveled for the summer a chance to join in the hunt. Booklets are available at the Town Hall for a suggested donation of $1. To find all the clues, click on the links to the right!

The hunt is a great one-day activity for families looking for easy, in-town fun. SPOILER ALERT! Starting with the Town Hall, participants pick up their ‘passport book’ to collect stamps, seals, do rubbings, and record answers. Going to the Town Hall first is important because the booklet is needed for the remainder of the hunt, however, after that stop, locations can be hit up in any order. The Scavenger Hunt will end at the Country Fair on September 22nd on Opening Day.

Test your skills as a detective, scientist and historian! Whether your family has lived in Lexington your entire life or you just moved here last week, this town wide scavenger hunt will have something for kids and kids at heart. Designed to capture the imagination of both children and adults, novices and Lexington history buffs, everyone is guaranteed to have a good time. The 300th Anniversary Committee will be sending Lexington residents all over town to solve clues, discover new places, and maybe even learn a little about their own backyard!

During the last week of school, all Lexington elementary and middle school students in the public schools were given a special bookmark announcing the Lexington 300th Celebration Scavenger Hunt. This bookmark has some early hints about some of the locations you may need to visit this summer if you participate. If you do not have children in the LPS and you would like a bookmark, additional copies are available at Cary Memorial Library. They provide hints, but are not required to participate!

for the first Scavenger Hunt announcement on June 19th.  Clues will  be released all summer long. Completed hunt materials should be turned in at the 300th Anniversary Country Fair on September 22nd.  Prizes will be awarded! The first clue will  lead participants to the place where kits are available and there is a suggested $1.00 donation per kit.
