RACE THROUGH TIME
It is with our deepest appreciation that The Race Through Time committee thanks our sponsor, Collective Brands Performance + Lifestyle Group, for their very generous donation and support. The event would not have been the same without them.
This fast and furious race had runners lapping 4 plus miles around town where they were met with nine challenges along the way. At various pit stops the runners were challenged with the following tasks: they practiced holding and handling a musket with the Red Coats along with being tested on Revolutionary History, they were asked to memorize and recite a freedom oath for the Minute Men, For the Historical Society they had to assemble historical puzzles and put them in chronological order, they pitched a tent for the Boy Scouts, were tested on paintings and exhibits at the current exhibit at The Lexngton Arts and Crafts Society, as well as, make a corsage for The Lexington Field and Garden Club, they identified all the parts of a bicycle at RIDE Studio Cafe, they pitched a fast ball which was clocked at the Lexington Police Station, they solve a word puzzle at the Cary Memorial library and they took a quiz and had their photographs taken in costume at Artspan.
The event could also have not taken place without the generosity of time and tremendous creativity of the following local organizations: Artspan, Art-A-Blooming, The Boy Scouts of America Troop 160, The Cary Memorial Library, The Lexington Arts and Crafts Society, His Majesty's Tenth Regiment of Foot, The Lexington Minute Men, The Lexington Field and Garden Club, The Lexington Historical Society, The Lexington Police Department, The Lexington Recreation Department, Lexington Venue and Ride Studio Cafe.
A final note of thanks goes to the eighty-five racers who showed up in festive attire, ready to give it their all. The course was definitely challenging but all 85 participants crossed the finish line with smiles on their faces!
