There's Something for Everyone!
On March 16 and 17, 2013, Lexington will celebrate Incorporation Weekend, recalling Lexington's incorporation as a town in 1713. All residents are invited to participate in LexCelebrate!, a two-day festival similar to Boston’s First Night, but over the course of an entire weekend.
This is our chance to come together and celebrate our community and what it means to us. We asked Lexington residents what they find special about our town, and they have answered with many voices. Many talented folks, our friends and neighbors, have generously volunteered to share their knowledge and skills with us as speakers, artisans, historians, activity leaders, and vendors.
There will be something for everyone as we explore Lexington’s "roots and branches." LexCelebrate! will uncover the origins of our community and how we have branched out and grown into a vibrant, diverse place since then. Bring the family, bring your Lexington memories, bring an appetite, come for one event or both days, but be sure to join us for the talks, panels, activities, demonstrations, and food festival that will await you at Lexington High School. To round it all off, there will be an intergenerational “300th Dance Around the World” on Saturday evening.
Join your friends and neighbors for this home-grown celebration. Stay tuned as we keep you posted about March 16 and 17 - there's a lot to share!
