- 300th Anniversary Concert - Thank you
From Tanya Morrisett and Jessie Steigerwald, Co-Chairs
October 31, 2012
Over a year and a half ago, we thought it would be fun to give Lexington a whimsical walk through her 300-year clothing history. Last Saturday, this idea became reality with the performance of Breeches, Bloomers, and Bellbottoms - Oh My! Lexington’s 300th Anniversary Musical Fashion Revue. The Revue was a mammoth undertaking and would never have been possible without the help of over 400 community members.
First, we’d like to thank the 150 performers who donated countless hours. This group includes Connie Bodemer, Jessi Dimmock, Rachel Kahn, Sara Mael, Rhys Mincy, Amy Morrisett, Matthew Resnick, Zack Steigerwald Schnall, Rohen Sundaram, Chloe Thornburn, David Tu, Karina, Wen, Kenny Laxague, all five Selectmen, elected Town officials, Thelma Goldberg, the Dance Inn Legacy Dance Company, 16 Members of Lexington’s senior management team, Town employees, 25 LPS staff members, Girl Scout troop #71685, Boy Scout troop #160, musicians, athletes, and dozens of other Lexington citizens.
Clothing our performers was no small feat; the entire community pitched in. Over 70 Lexingtonians combed closets and attics for vintage garments to lend or donate. Twenty-five in our town sewed reproduction garments and over 20 people scoured thrift stores for vintage clothing.
We couldn’t have produced the Revue without the Town’s support. We are indebted to the Town Clerk’s Office, Laurie Lucibello, the DPF, the DPW, LHS Technical Director Andrea Stumpf, Laura Lasa, Lexington High School, Don Johnson, Lexington’s
custodial staff, Naomi Martin, Koren Stembridge, Linda Carroll, and the Cary Memorial Library.
Our community businesses and organizations were integral. We thank Candy Castle, the Colonial Times, the Girl Scout Museum, the Boston Globe, IZZE Sparkling Juices, LexMedia, the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society, the Lexington Council for the
Arts, the Lexington Minuteman, the Marmaladies, Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical High School, Monroe Center for the Arts, the Patch, Whitsons Culinary Group, and Wilson Farm.
Thank you to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Fashion, the wearable art auction chaired by Corinne Steigerwald. Over 40 local artists donated unique pieces of art to help support the 300th anniversary; this auction raised over $5,000 for Anniversary events.
We thank our many behind-the-scenes volunteers who made this possible. Our publicity team included Martha Wood, Betsy Sarles, Cheryl Meadow, and Risa Lavelle. Sandy Kahn, Carin Casey and Carolyn Goldstein led a group of 25 ushers and house volunteers. Assistant director Zoe Meadow and a dozen backstage volunteers kept the show running smoothly.
A special thank you goes to the central planning and scene captain team. The following people took a concept and made it reality: Corinne Steigerwald, Cristina Burwell, Darlene Wigton, Diane Biglow, Donna Hooper, Jen Geller, Kim Coburn,
Kirsten Hede-Brierley, Leslie Masson, Linda Vine, Marie Hill, Michelle Tran, Polly Kienle, Shirley Lane, and Susan Rubenstein.
Finally, thank you, Lexington! You created history and helped raise money to support the entire 9-month celebration of our anniversary. For a complete list of everyone who volunteered, contributed, and performed, please click here.
Thank you!
